You may not even realize you have a problem but sleep deprivation is estimated to affect about half of the population. The problem with sleep deprivation is that eventually it can put your entire body in jeopardy.


Sleep is the body’s way of repairing itself and it is necessary for humans to live vibrantly. If you are not sleeping well, you may not even know it but the symptoms of sleep problems are clear. How to sleep good definitely means being able to realize the signs.

• Clumsiness, difficult waking in the morning, poor or lacking job or school performance, moodiness, inability to make decisions, irritability and falling asleep during the day are tell tale signs of sleep deprivation.

If you are sleep deprived and there is a good chance you are, try some of these tips. First, avoid stimulants. Tea, coffee, sodas and even juices contain high amounts of caffeine and sugar that can disrupt your sleep. Exercise in the morning and try not to eat a big meal too close to bedtime. Go to sleep at reasonable hours and strive to wake up when the sun rises each day.

Make sure you wear comfortable sleeping garments and resist keeping the bedroom too warm. It is actually recommended to sleep in a cooler environment. If you focus on healthy sleeping habits you will eventually fall into a routine of sleep and the sleep disorders shall disappear.
